Bar Coding
Scanning bar codes is easy. Simply purchase a
keyboard wedge type scanner, plug it in and voila!,
you're ready to scan. (You will probably want to
scan the bar code into the 'Alternate' screen for each
item so you can sell and receive both ways: your
regular 'item number' way and your bar code way.)
In addition Results! has
the ability to print labels and
their corresponding bar codes. There are three different types of
labels handled by Results!, which include shelf, item
and mailing labels.
Shelf labels are the price ticket and corresponding bar
code that appear below the product on the shelf. You
have the option of including information such as unit of
measure or the actual bar code on the shelf tag.
Item labels are the standard price tag usually attached
to a particular item. Item labels traditionally include
the item's price and corresponding bar code which is
scanned at the point of sale.
Results! also includes the capability to produce mailing
labels, which prints labels from your customer files to
be used when sending invoices or shipping products.
The labels screen contains two tabs, the 'Main' tabs
used to define and control the label type. The 'Bar
Code' tab is used to define the bar code associated with
a specific item.
